THE LOW DOWN
Touted as the world's most feared hunter, the great Kraven and his hunt for the world's greatest prey, all take place in this one-shot out on comic shop shelves today. Kraven's obsession for the hunt drove him to his grave. Now his family looks to avenge his death, and once again give respect to the Kravinoff name. Ana, Kraven's daughter finds her Father's journal and begins to read the entries. She will learn to study her prey in much of the same fashion as her Daddy did. And she has Spidy right in her sights.
The Gauntlet has been set up carefully by the Kravinoffs thus far in the storyline. But before the shit hits the fan, in this issue we are treated to a more in depth look at one of Spider-Man's greatest foes.
This was simply and awesome read. With all the many, many, many, oh did I mention many Spider-Man comics that come out on a monthly basis, it's sometimes hard to keep it interesting. But with this one shot, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the read.
The comic had a real old skool feel to it and it was nice to not have to see babies being tossed out of tall buildings, or women getting raped. Nope, this was an issue that was reminiscent of the comic books I would have bought as a kid...a long time ago. All the stories were done well both in the writing department as well as the art. But I must admit my favourite story of the bunch by far was done by Stan the "Man" Lee. It was so refreshing to get that nostalgic taste of Spider-Man and his foes.
Plain and simple this book was a lot of fun, and am glad I picked it up. For awhile there I was off the Spidy kick because it was just too much and it was boring me, but I have to say this was a treat. This was something a little different which was exactly what I needed, it was a fun read. And after all, aren't comic books suppose to be fun? Or have we forgotten that these days?
